She wears typical boy clothes and dedicates herself to protecting people from danger. Girls can only receive rings from princes, but Utena decides that she's going to be a prince instead. The school's Student Council also seems like some sort of luxuriously exclusive mafia group with rose rings that prove their membership. Enigmatic is a good way to describe this academy- it is never really explained why students have to do this.

This is a relationship that isn’t necessarily canon, but Revolutionary Girl Utena is definitely a series with a queer cult following.Ī junior high student named Utena attends the enigmatic Ohtori Academy, a school that has a curriculum based on duels between students in order to win the hand of Anthy Himemiya, also known as the "Rose Bride".

Legend of Korra is memorable for more than just their relationship, but that certainly made it even better. Korra and Asami had the dopest relationship, from making fun of their mutual ex-boyfriend to being vulnerable with each other and going on fantastic adventures together. It was one of the first times that a popular animated American television show, on Nickelodeon of all places, depicted a same-sex couple and officially verified their same-sex relationship, rather than avoiding bad press and leaving it up to fans’ imaginations. When news came around that their relationship was indeed romantic (both Korra and Asami are bisexual women), the internet lost it. LGBT fans of Legend of Korrahad been picking up hints and chemistry between Korra and her best friend Asami through the entirety of the series, which concluded in 2014. She finishes off with "saying mean things to others is bullying," but ironically, does not realize that it's "mean" to not support someone's identity, and people just like her are the reason the LGBT community faces a lot of bullying. It is very debatable whether or not this American animated series could be considered an anime by definition, but this pairing is just too good to leave out.

She says "people will always have different opinions in life, but that is fine," considering her homophobia to simply be an opinion. Since her new friends didn't support the LGBT community enough to stand up for them when someone is outspokenly homophobic, she believes that they are better than her old friends because they allow her to be openly homophobic. They decided for her to change schools so she could start over.Ī year later, she gained new friends with different opinions. She started getting bad grades, so the headmaster called her parents for a meeting, which scared her. Much like many gays and lesbians in real life society, she felt alienated and alone. Her old friends did not want to enable this attitude, however, and still avoided her at school, which made her sad. Instead of explaining why the LGBT community deserves equal rights, they tell her that it's okay to not support them as long as she is nice about it. When she does, to her delight, they also do not support gays or lesbians. She tried to explain it was her personal preference, which means she didn't actually hate them. For the rest of the day, people mocked her and called her a homophobe.

She went to the bathroom and cried so hard and so loud that someone in the next stall told her to shut up. Everyone else in the school took her side. The next day at school, everyone acted hostile towards her and shunned her, and she was confronted by LGBT Girl, who revealed she did not want to be friends with someone who doesn't support gays or lesbians. She decides to simply say "no!" She saw her friend's awkward response and thinking about that moment kept her awake all night. She didn't know whether to give her honest opinion or lie. Her friend, LGBT Girl, asked her if she supported the LGBT community, like gays or lesbians. The LGBT (in a "respectful" way Homophobic Anime Girl is from the video on YouTube called " Is it Wrong to Disagree With LGBT?" (also known as " My friend told everyone I don't support the LGBT" or " I Was Bullied For My Opinion") A video was created by MinuteVideos.
